Back again with the latest edition of getting to know Arilyn. This week, I will be asking the same serious and other not so serious questions to another new edition to our team - Kasimir Lehto!
So Kasimir, please tell our avid readers what you do at Arilyn and how you got here?Alright, so my title is Creative Producer. I'm coming up with new concepts and creative approaches for the company. Basically conceptualising them to something that could lead to new business and attract new clients.
We’ve been working together with Arilyn every now and then for a few years and also known Otso [our co-founder & creative director] for about 20 years now, we went to film school together.
Ok now let's get into the basics, cause we want get to know you. Please share with us what you had for breakfast?
Glass of water, then meditation, and then a fruit.
What would you rather have had? If you could choose?
Continental breakfast.
Ah hotel breakfasts seem to be a common denominator (popular choices) in these interviews, and why wouldn't it - they are delicious! Favourite beverage? Alcoholic or non alcoholic?
Some kind of fruit juice.
And...
Mescal.
Favourite season? One that makes you happier than other?
Well summer, of course. Or maybe spring, because the best things are still to come.
Do you like the rain?
Sure.
Chocolate or strawberry?
Chocolate.
Dogs or cats?
Dogs.
What kind of movie would depict your life?
I think some kind of Fellini film, mysterious, poetic and impossible to crack.
Any big or significant career failures?
I've done a lot of failures. But that's part of the process and it’s what is needed so you can evolve. So, every failure is not necessarily a negative thing, it might just put you in the right direction, give you perspective.
Best career advice, stemming from the previous answer?
Make mistakes and learn from them.
If you didn’t do what you do now, what would you be doing? Either in an imaginary world or as in alternative career path
I would probably have stayed as a filmmaker, cinematographer.
Or I could be like an investor for sustainable technologies.
Or a space cadet!
What job would you be terrible at?
Politics. I would probably lose having to hold back while playing the game.
What do you wish you knew more about?
Philosophy, game design and how to be a better person.
Any great frustrations in life?
People’s ignorance towards all the things in this planet that are so wrong.
Do you have a hero?
Wayne Dyer or Sadhguru. Both have perspectives in life that, when listening to them all your small struggles become so small.
Favourite band or music genre?
Techno and all kind of electronic music.
Unusual hobbies or interests?
I actually went to a culinary school in Herttoniemi and in Espoo for 3 years.
Well, the thing was when I was a teenager I was a semi-professional snowboarder, so I was a lot away and travelling so my grades were mega low and it was the only school I could get in to. When I find out I got in, I hadn't planned on pursuing it, wanted to hide the fact I had gotten in, because I didn't want to go but my dad heard the phone call and I then I had to go.
Now a days I love cooking and I do it every day. And actually, think that the process of cooking, creatively, lends itself into any other creative processes. In cooking the process takes about 1 hour. Making a film takes about 1 year. These both processes have lots of similarities, but the scale is different. In the beginning, you have to know how you want the food to taste, look and feel. And from there you backtrack and start the various stages of the process to reach the idea you’re pursuing, same way like in any other creative process.
Ok now let's finish up with a story from your childhood, shall we, as a loppukevennys.
When I was maybe something like 3 years old, I was acting in a scene from a movie and when I look back, I don’t remember the crew, technology or the film set at all. I remember the scene that I was in, but not being filmed. So I think that's somehow has a connection to creating experiences in which immerse yourself fully.
