    Find me on:

Team Arilyn introductions are back! Let's welcome our newest member, Daniel Rémy, to the team. Daniel began his job at the first of April as our new Sales Manager. Daniel has exceptional experience in software and service sales as well as customer success and account management. Our clients and we will be happy to have him on board! We thought it would be fun to give Daniel a warm welcome by asking him a batch of really random rapid-fire questions. Here we go!

Welcome on board, Daniel! First, we want to know what did you have for breakfast?

Today I had OJ, coffee, and toasted oat bread. I usually never eat breakfast, but now, as we are on lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak, I have more time to prepare myself for the day.

You do know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? At least the lockdown has made you eat more healthy! What would you rather have?

More sleep. But for breakfast, I'd rather have a fresh salmon bagel and a properly made cappuccino.

That sounds proper! What is your favourite drink?

    Beer.

That was direct! What are you most grateful for at the moment?

Right now, I'm grateful for my own and loved ones' health, as we live in a challenging time due to COVID. Generally, I'm in a good place in my life right now with a lot of things to be grateful for, for example, this job amongst others!

    Dogs or cats?

    Dogs.

Short, but correct answer. Haha, just kidding! It's ok to like cats also, even though they want to kill you. Another quick, but tough question: Chocolate or strawberry?

Strawberry, I never understood the hype with chocolate.

Well, it's ok to be weird, we don't discriminate around here. Do you like the rain?

There are not many things that annoy me more than rain.

What is your favourite season? I think I know the answer to this one.

Summer, I love spending time at our summer cottage and playing Golf and Padel.

That's what I thought. Looks like everybody plays padel these days. You will find lots of playing buddies here! In the movie of your life, who would play you?

Easy, Ryan Gosling. Someone also once claimed that I look like Sean Bean, but I would prefer Gosling, as he is pretty good looking, apparently.

No sign of the Finnish modesty, I like it! What is your greatest career fail?

Probably my first "job", when my neighbour and I were assigned to paint our fence and other wooden trimmings. That never lead to any further painting gigs :)

I think you have to tell the whole story. You cannot leave it like that.

Let's just say that the end result wasn't as smooth as was requested.

That bad, aye? Ok, best ever career advice?

Unfuck yourself. By this, I mean basically that if you don't feel good about what you do, it's probably time to look for new challenges.

That gives a whole new meaning to "go and *beep* yourself"! On with the show. What is your greatest frustration?

Making mayo from scratch and noticing I only have two attempts until I run out of eggs.

Whoa, you can make mayo yourself?! Big respect for not taking the easy path. Who's your hero?

Wow, where to start... My parents, my grandparents, my sister, my wife, Anthony Bourdain, David Chang, Rene Redzepi, Jari Litmanen, John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Tommy Fleetwood, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Batman, Sanna Marin, Captain Hindsight from South Park, to mention a few.

Batman and Sanna Marin in the same sentence – coincidence? Don't think so. If you didn't do what you do now, what would you be doing?

It would probably have to do with cooking or sports, as they play a big role in my life.

More foodies to the team! So you're great at cooking, but what job would you be terrible at?

Every summer, I set a "one fish" goal for myself. When I catch that one fish, I'm done for the summer. With this goal, I wouldn't be much of a fisherman. And they need to wake up crazy early too!

    Any unusual hobbies or interests?

I am the GM of a handball team! Handball, which has more licensed players only in Germany than there are Ice Hockey players in the world, is a small sport in Finland. My team has been quite successful in the Finnish league, finishing second last season.

And the one question to really dive deep into your mind: Your favourite band?

There are so many. I like Finnish hip hop, indie, and so on, when I'm driving, I listen to Basso Radio, and my most played playlist on Spotify is my Shazaam playlist, which is built on what I hear on Basso.

And now the final question, tell us a short story from your childhood.

My dad, his friend and my godfather, arranged a joined party for their 40th birthdays. There were a couple of bowls of punch... My godfather's son and I filled our cups from the wrong container and thus experienced something we had never felt before. Needless to say, I can't remember all the details.

Thank you for this interview, Daniel!

    The pleasure was all mine!
