Metaverse has been the buzzword of this year. What does it actually mean? Do we even need to define it?
We hosted a webinar where we answered these questions, among many others. Following is a round-up of the highlights.
For us, Metaverse is a platform to create virtual business for real. It is a place to connect with more people more efficiently in a more memorable way.
We don't think Metaverse needs to be defined any further than that. We don't - and nobody can - know what it will be shaped like. The one thing we know is that we can enter it now. Actually, we have been there for almost eight years already.
What started as a way to delight people with immersive content has grown into creating real business in the new dimension - the next stage of digital life's evolution.
"What the fuck does that mean? 'Ang on, what does augmented reality mean, Sharon"
- Ozzy Osbourne
We asked our webinar attendees if they were ready to enter the Metaverse, and 66% were!
We also asked if they saw any benefits in the Metaverse, and an outstanding 97% said yes! The most intriguing benefit among the attendees was storytelling possibilities, followed by differentiation in the market.
Many trailblazer brands have already succeeded in the Metaverse. From top-of-the-charts artists to Easter eggs and milk cartons, one thing is in common: the aim to build a stronger connection between brands and their audiences.
How can one small Easter egg entertain half a million times? Why are there virtual cows on your milk carton? How did Lil Nas X get into the Metaverse?
The simple answer is extended reality.
The Finnish candy brand Panda entered the Easter egg market with a chocolate surprise egg accompanied by an AR panda. The campaign was widely popular, amassing close to half a million individual scans in the few weeks surrounding Easter. In a country with a population of just 5.5M, this is a significant achievement. Users returned an average of 20 times to watch the panda jot around in front of them. Read more.
The Nordic dairy giant Arla launched a new XR world to bring pasture life closer to milk consumers interestingly and engagingly.
"The XR Pasture experience supports Arla's animal welfare communication excellently! It fits well to the state of time in our world and engages through gamification," describes Arla Finland's Brand & Category Manager Arja Westman. Read more.
Lil Nas X is one of the most recognised artists of today; he has broken many boundaries and prejudices in the past. Today, he breaks the boundaries of reality. Lil Nas X's Montero album launch accompanied an augmented reality experience. The artist's fans could connect with him from wherever in the world they might be.
The Montero Xperience enables the fans to dwell in the Montero atmosphere and take pictures. The visitors can then share them on their social media channels. Read more.
