    Find me on:

This week we're on a search for great AR applications, once again. Google and Amazon are both leveling up their game on search bars.

Search is easier also in Mercedes-Benz's new S-Class car, with an augmented reality windshield! We did write about this a few weeks back, but it just goes too well with the other search-themed content we have!

Also, brand new Christmas chocolate flavors with AR experiences become available to search soon.

Google brings new 3D content to its AR search

Google Search has featured some pretty cool AR experiences in the past: dinosaurs, tigers, and fossils. Now it is time for cars!

This update shows a 3D model of a car. The user can turn and look it from different angles, both inside and out, from their own environment. Google is planning to bring this 3D presenting with a significant change in contrast to the previous AR animals.

The AR search offers you to change the car's color, rotate the model, and check out the interior's material. You can also zoom in and out to view the details either from inside or outside. The application enables you to place your aspired car model on your favorite background: in your parking lot, driveway, or another specific setting of your likings.

Google has claimed to begin this search bar upgrade from the US with models of Volvo and Porsche. More locations and car models are stated to launch too anytime soon.

Amazon search bar could become more comfortable to use with machine learning and augmented reality

Amazon is working on improving its shopping site with an upgraded search bar. The company plans to use machine learning to make the bar 'smarter.'

This comes through several features that Amazon is testing, including product images, augmented reality, a better understanding of queries, and additional Amazon Prime links following autocompleted suggestions.

In addition to improvements to its traditional search capabilities, Amazon plans to use AR and other visual search technology to make the shopping experience more comfortable.

Mercedes-Benz eases the search of your destination with augmented reality windshield

Get ready for the next level of displays: the augmented reality head-up-display. The AR windshield on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class car offers active distance assistance, lane-keeping assistance, and AR navigation.

The Mercedes HUD helps the driver to keep an eye on what's ahead. The critical info about the route, the other travelers close to you, and the road's shape is on sight right at the driver's field of view. No more checking the phone while driving!

Panda brings Christmas joy with new chocolate flavors and AR experiences

Orkla launches new Panda Christmas sweets! For the celebration year of a 100-year-old candy factory, new flavors made without palm oil delight people with a sweet tooth.

Panda will be seen for the first time in the traditional Stockmann's Christmas Window in Helsinki, with weekly-changing AR experiences. The AR content can also be launched from selected Christmas products: Vaajakoski Artisan, Vaajakoski Primus, and Juhlapöydän chocolate cases.

The AR experiences are available in Finland through the Arilyn app in December.

Here's a video from the Panda campaign from last Easter. Soon we can go on a search for the Christmas Panda!
